Spring Unveiling Weekend
May 2, 3 & 4

The members of the Cannon Beach Gallery Group invite you to play along the shores of Cannon Beach and in the varied and beautiful galleries of our town. Nestled between the wild ocean and the coastal mountains Cannon Beach offers art and craft ranging from the playful to the sublime.

On May 2nd, 3rd and 4th, 2008 each gallery will spotlight new work by their chosen artists. Unveilings demos and receptions take place all weekend long, making this event an unparalleled experience for the art lover.

Rosetta & Scott Peck will both unveil several new pieces on Friday at 5:30, during a cocktail hour to kick off the weekend. Rosetta will unveil a stunning new bronze Saturday at 1:30pm and Scott will unveil his most ambitious work to date on Saturday at 6pm. Wine and hors d'oeuvre reception to follow.

The Cannon Beach Gallery will be featuring Cory Burnett during the month of May, with an artists reception on May 3rd from 6-8 P.M. His multi-media installation, entitled (L)EDGE, is the result of a year long project that he undertook as the recipient of the 2007 individual artist grant.

Mike Smith, a widely collected NorthWest painter & sculptor, will unveil his latest watercolors and pastels celebrating the simple pleasures of home. Sherry Casper has created a delightful new series celebrating the joy of Spring. Chuck Gumpert will enchant you with his new series of figuratives and his lyrical abstracts. Ann Cavanaugh will demonstrate her landscape inspired fused glass paintings. Light and color will fuse into a spring symphony.

Friday May 2nd we will be introducing and unveiling the work of our newest artists, Debra Ulrich and Brooke Anderson from 2-5pm. On Saturday, May 3, at 3:30pm our unveiling will include metal artist Eric Langerliers, and Sumi watercolor artist Fumiko Kimura. Also Saturday from 11-3pm Eric and Fumiko will be giving demonstrations inside and outside the gallery. Reception

Robert Schlegel's landscapes create a tension between realism and abstraction. Pamela Wachtler-Fermanis instills a tranquil vision of nature into paintings of the Northwest region. Angela Hazeltine Pozzi's installation reflects tide pools and sea caves in sculptural works made in fiber-based materials. Demos

DragonFire Interactive - Saturday, from 9am - 1pm including Ann Cavanaugh showing slides of the process for her landscape inspired fused glass paintings.

Haystack Gallery - Saturday from 11-3pm Eric and Fumiko will be giving demonstrations. Sparks will be flying as outside the gallery, in a special area, Eric will work on and finish a new metal wall sculpture. At the opposite end of the spectrum, inside the gallery, Fumiko will set up a demonstration of the ancient Japanese art of Sumi watercolor.

NW By NW Gallery -Saturday May 3 12:30. Nelson Davis .Mixed Media & Found Object combined with woodworking to create "Talismanic Sculptures". Informal Talk & Unveiling of new artist & exhibition.Davis" work show "A deep admiration of Tribal Art".

His Ceramic Masks & Mixed Media Sculptures combine Storytelling & Dance Tradition with a Contemporary Vision meant to connect both worlds. He will give a performance to benefit the local food bank at 6:00 .$10 admission. NW By NW GALLERY will match donations to the food bank.

Sunday May 4 1:00 Lowell Hanna .Hanna's pit fired, burnished ceramics that are free hand decorated with leather and improvised tools have won the artist great acclaim and a national following. Western, old & new traditions.
Informal Talk & demonstration.
